Many people see Halloween as a time of fun, costumes and candy. Others see it as a way to honor the dead relatives that have passed or celebrate the coming of fall and winter. No matter what you think of Halloween, there are some benefits that celebrating this holiday can offer you. Here is a look at just some of them. It’s fun. Halloween is fun all around. People enjoy dressing up and decorating. Fun can help people of all ages reduce the amount of stress, improve depression, and bring balance to their lives. No dress code. For the majority of your life, someone has dictated what you wear. Whether it was your parents or a dress code imposed on you by the schools or workplace. Halloween is the one day a year where it is socially acceptable to get a little wild. Express yourself. You may have a “going out” personality that you share with your friends and coworkers, and a totally different hidden side that you keep to yourself. However, it can be quite therapeutic to express that side of you once in awhile, and Halloween is a great way to do it. For instance, if you normally dress in dark colored, conservative clothes, a bright and flashy Halloween costume can be a lot of fun.

Mills and published by Bear Manor Media: .bearmanormedia.bizland.id370.html) During my seventeen years as a script writer for Bob Hope in the 70s and 80s, problems were bound to crop up now and again, but when they didn’t arise until after a show had been taped, this made them even more troublesome and costly. One year, we taped a Halloween special on which one of the guests was Cassandra Peterson, well-known as a Charles Addams-like character who called herself ” Elvira.” She appeared in a parody of the popular sitcom “Cheers” as a customer in the bar opposite Hope as the show’s bartender, Coach. In our sketch, Cassandra entered the bar, looked Hope up and down, and said, “Nice job. Who’s your undertaker?” As usual, the sketch was edited, sound-checked and transferred, along with the rest of the show to 3-inch tape that would be transmitted by satellite to New York, from whence the show would be broadcast.

The Details Are In The Calendar

The Details Are In The Calendar
Like many authors, writing a novel was always an aspiration. When I finally started the process, in Shades of Darkness, Shades of Grace I had a great story that had evolved from real-life events. Still, the majority of my experience was writing nonfiction, a style that generally called for straight facts with less emphasis on descriptive elements. Exceptional fiction requires authentic details that pull the reader into the world in which the story takes place. I discovered that one of the best ways to do this is to construct the narrative around a calendar.

Wanting feedback on the story, I sent an early draft of the manuscript to an editor I’d learned of through one of my writing groups. While she liked the novel, she noted there was no specific timeline of years or events, and felt the story could essentially be taking place at any time. The editor suggested using a calendar with actual dates and specific years during which the story would be set. By taking this approach, it not only helped me plan the story better, but a historical reference of Jesse Ventura’s election as governor of Minnesota in 1998 or making note of the Aquatennial Festival held in Minneapolis each July could be woven into the narrative and enhance the authenticity of the book.

Demonology

Towards the end of the passage, the voice of the narrator shifts, from being third person and narrating about his sister to being first person and analyzing himself and what he could have done. Moody also implies that even though his sister Meredith wasn’t the most angelic sister in the world, he should not judge her for the person she was of the life she led. He says in the last sentence, “I shouldn’t say she had her demons, as I do too” (Moody, 239). It feels as if he wrote this entire passage to convey his love and sympathy for his sister, as well as to show how much he misses her. It enables us to relate it to our lives, and appreciate our loved ones for who they are, with their strengths and weaknesses. Ultimately, he uses the strategy of not defining the text so he can further elaborate on portraying Meredith’s life, fictionalizing some aspects, and recollecting some from mere memory. Using the conventions of both genres allows him to tell the story of his sister’s life more personally, giving him a better grasp on what he wants to convey. Writing this piece towards his sister allows him to reconnect stories, happiness, and infinite memories that will never fade away.
