Overcrowding A Problem For Some Los Angeles Schools
A long time ago, kids went to school in a one-room schoolhouse. Kids ranged in age from around 7 to 16, and were all taught by the same teacher. In the cities, schools were mostly run by religious organizations or sometimes the town’s city council took over the responsibility of educating the young people.
As our population has increased, the need for more teachers and more classrooms and even more school buildings has grown exponentially. Nowhere is that more evident than...
Some Types Of Health Care Degrees Online Better Than Others
The explosion in the popularity of online degrees is making news these days, with health care degrees online near the top of the list of popular courses. It's important to keep in mind, however, that not every kind of health care degree is appropriate for online study while others are particularly well suited to this type of program.
A bachelor's degree in nursing would be difficult, if not impossible, to pursue at an online university simply because there are so many han...
Fragments
A fragment is a broken off piece or a part of a sentence. When you want to avoid fragments, watch out for the no verb fragment and the misplaced period.
The no verb fragment:
(1) No verb at all:
Jim, John and Jasper down by the movie house with everyone else.
(FRAGMENT) (Where is the verb that tells what Jim, John and Jasper are doing?)
Jim, John, and Jasper WAITED (verb) down by the movie house with everyone else. (SENTENCE)
Federal Prison Report
Recently the Federal Bureau of Prisons released an update of their prison population, which included breakdowns of race, sex, sentences and offenses. Currently, there are 189,984 inmates in the United States federal prison system. The breakdown of the information is at times typical and yet surprising other times. Did you know that the average age of a federal inmate is 38?

Incarceration
Years ago, citizens perceived prison as a horrible environment; they feared breaking the law and the prison population was extremely low. Today, the average citizen perceives prison as a lazy man's paradise, and prison population is at an all-time high. The incarceration of today is not stringent enough punishment to effective deter crime. Prisoners of today have too many rights and privileges that lead to ineffective incarceration. The justice system must bring the fear back into the system by enforcing stringent punishment as before in order to make incarceration an effective crime deterrent.
Home School Laws
Homeschooling has elevated deeper in the previous few years than it has for the former decades. At first, homeschooling or any form of separate learning wasn't tolerated in States, regardless when a public court ruled for the population of Sisters for the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary and approved them to arrange a independent junior high school in 1925, congregation schools weren't the only facilities providing knowledge to young people. This triggered the homeschooling long-...

Neo-Malthusian Population Control
The Malthusian theory of population holds that at some point in the future, with generational turnovers of humans, will outpace agricultural production. Based on the works of Thomas Malthus, this principle of population expresses cynicism about the future of human life. To avoid the Malthusian catastrophe, which results from an unchecked population, there seems to be a number of measures that a group or society can take.
Immigrants
These people are in college with me, hoping to one day be good
honest, law abiding tax payers, just like Uncle Sam wants them to be. I don't see what is wrong
with a little change in population, as long as the population wants to work hard to make their lives
better, as well as increase the economy. One more plus to these non-native born Americans. They
have not had the chance to become lazy yet, and many bring with them an idea to work unusually
hard.
