Are There Too Many Online Colleges?
Let’s get real – online colleges have begun to take over the
advertisement and general space on the internet, leaving the rest to be consumed by retail stores and social media sites. With new online colleges emerging every day, it is no wonder why we are sick and tired
of hearing commercials for the University
of Phoenix and Kaplan University. Many
of us wonder if we have even met someone who is a graduate from one
of these online schools. They seem to be quite well-hidden. Even more
of us wonder how the explosion
of online colleges took
off so much in recent years.
Online colleges began several decades ago, the brain child
of a company set on training its employees in various aspects
of the internet. Since this point, industries have found a way to manipulate this early s
oftware into a global phenomenon that continues to attract students from around the world in an effort to better educate our own community. Online colleges truly took
off after Congress approved federal funds, despite reports
of diploma mill institutions. After this point, online colleges pretty much looked at each other and decided that the students out there were fair game.
