This type of essay is a very specific one as the author basically begins writing the work without having a definite position or attitude to the analyzed subject. This is a “flow” essay as the conclusions come to the author in the Exploratory of writing. During the Exploratory of writing an exploratory essay the writer learns more and more about the subject and the reader can trace the formation of his subjective opinion on it.

A Practical Harvard Essay System
A Harvard essay uses a system which is commonly known as the Harvard referencing style. The basic elements in a grad school essay assignment using the Harvard style of referencing is the way the author’s name is cited within the text of the essay. For example, the reference would include the author’s surname and year of publication (Tom, 2010).

The facts in this type of essay can be just the background of the vivid experiences presented by the writer. It is crucial to focus strictly on the subject of description. It can be:

A Narrative Essay tells a story. This story is usually an experience or an event from the author’s past, a recent or ongoing event or experience, or something about a memorable person. Since in a narrative essay the author narrates personal experiences, it is generally written in first person and is told in a casual conversational style. The essay is written from the author’s point of view and tries to lead the reader to reflect on it.

Paraphrase an idea from a source.
Summarize information from a single source.

TheVancouver format of citing papers is used primarily for medical articles. Undergraduates generally will not need to use this style. It is very close to the Harvard style, which is also used in the medical field. Sometimes Vancouver format is called author-number format.

The author-number name refers to the fact that a citation appears in the text with a number in parentheses (1) which gets incremented with each new work cited.
