Enduring Major Holidays on Campus
Sometimes making it home for the holidays simply isn’t an option. It can be due to a variety of circumstances, like distance, weather, car troubles and work, and the result could be a feeling of emptiness in place of the warmth that comes with spending time with your family. But you shouldn’t allow a change in plans to ruin your time off from school. If you venture outside of your comfort zone and do it with a positive attitude, you might end up having a holiday to remember.
More likely than not, you aren’t the only student who will be on campus during the break. Check Facebook and see if any of your friends will be around – people love to voice their complaints about every little inconvenience through their status updates. If you find some who are dealing with the same experience, hang out with them. If you’re of age, frequent the bars that remain open during the holidays. You might hear some interesting stories of family drama from the locals. Activities that keep you busy and out of the dorm or apartment will keep your mind off of what you’re missing.
