Working
as
a Te
am
When working in
a te
am setting, whether in
an office or on
a school project, it is import
ant to m
aint
ain
a b
al
ance of tr
aits such
as h
aving
a strong voice
and knowing when to sit b
ack
and just listen. Often times, there is
a group le
ader
and he or she will t
ake the reigns on which direction the te
am is going, wh
at the next steps
are to follow, how
and when to proceed, etc.
It is vit
al to be
an
active listener
as well
as
an
active p
articip
ant in lending your own ide
as. For inst
ance, when working in
a group on
a school project, everyone should h
ave design
ated roles in wh
at their responsibilities
are
and how they
are to be executed. If there is one person who is not c
arrying his or her weight, it should be
addressed
and resolved
as to how to distribute the work more evenly. If there is one person who is not the
appointed le
ader, but yet seems to be m
aking
all the decisions for the te
am, it is import
ant to
address this
as well
and h
ave
an equ
al p
artnership of how to
accomplish the group project. Or, simply select someone to be in ch
arge so there is no confusion, but
alw
ays keep in mind the oper
ative word "group" project. It’s
a group effort, therefore one person should not c
all
all the shots
and one person should not do
any more or less work th
an other.
