Writing the Semester-end Term Paper: Plan to Write a Great Essay
How many students wait until the last minute (say, Thanksgiving break or just after Spring Break) to begin tackling their term papers? Consequently, how many students feel stressed out and panicked, wondering if they'll be able to finish writing those papers and write them well, all while studying for final exams? While students don't want to get started on the very first day of class, the sooner a student begins working on a term paper that's due at the end of the semester, the better. Here are some tips to help students master the term paper.
Booster Shots.... For Homeschooling Parents.
No, we’re not talking about immunizations. We are talking about booster shots for those families that have homeschooled for so long, or so in depth that they have lost the joy of why they started this journey in the first place.
You may be one of those families that has been homeschooling for 9 years or so and now are on the home stretch, or you may be new to the journey and have gotten in over your head and wondered if this is the right choice. Any and all of us could use...
Thanksgiving
In today's meeting, the President of the United States of America, George W. Bush, officially announced he is having a Thanksgiving party at his ranch in Crawford, Texas this weekend. Throughout the day, invitations were sent out all over the White House. My body grew tremendously excited at the possibility that maybe this year I would be invited. My partner Bill walked in with his invitation in his hand, wagged it around as though it were merely nothing to him and then threw it aimlessly towards the trash can but missed. My eyes grew large as I was extremely angered by the offense he had just committed in front of me. To my surprise, he caught my severe look and politely asked, "Would you rather go instead of me? I could simply change the name without anyone knowing." The tension on my face began to ease as I looked up at him from my seat and to my amusement my lips formed a strong smile in answer to his question. The process took only a short moment but in that time I carefully observed the paper in Bill's hand and couldn't help but notice its beauty. The thickness of the card clearly showed its expense and the soft colors of the shade blue played along the edges of the card, showing its artistic side for the affair. And now I was a member.

Best friends always have inside jokes that seem stupid to everyone else but get you rolling on the floor every time you mention them. A best friend will always tell you that you look good, even on your worst days. A best friend is someone with whom you've shared your most intimate secrets with, and laughed the loudest. You've already made plans to name one of your children after her, in hopes that one of them is a girl. And although best friends may grow apart and not talk to each other as much, it is safe to say that true best friends are the ones you have for life. A best friend always understands you, or at least pretends
The Prince
Throughout my reading of Machiavelli, a particular selection struck me as very interesting. This comes from Chapter 17 when Machiavelli states, “Here a question arises: whether it is better to be loved than feared, or the reverse. The answer is, of course, that it would be best to be both loved and feared. But since the two rarely come together, anyone compelled to choose will find greater security in being feared than in being loved. . . . Love endures by a bond, which men, being scoundrels, may break whenever it serves their advantage to do so; but fear is supported by the dread of pain, which is ever present (Machiavelli 54). I believe this is an interesting question that would be a good topic for debate. Regarding this question, I side with Machiavelli on his reasoning that it is more beneficial to be feared then loved with regards to obedience. Examples of this principle can be seen in our world today. Laws demonstrate this very well. Laws are present to keep society in order, and with disobedience comes penalties. These penalties are what make people obey the law. Without penalties, or using the term pain in an exaggerated sense, most people would continue to break the law being aware that there are no consequences. Fear is what fuels laws to be effective.

Writing essays and term papers in high school was always a piece of cake. I could procrastinate until the night before it was due and still receive As. Tests and quizzes, I wouldn't even break a sweat. Text books and novel reading, not something I would do, yet some how, I could get away with amazing grades
